The most powerful tech event in the world” — the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) — wrapped up in Las Vegas last week, setting the tone for the consumer electronics category this year. In case you missed it, here are several top trends and innovations that stood out among the latest gadgets and new technologies showcased by exhibitors at CES 2026.

More AI Integrations Across Product Categories

It should come as no surprise that AI continues to dominate the conversation in the electronics and technology industries. Everything from laptops and TVs to appliances and smart home gadgets were on display to demonstrate increasingly advanced AI features and applications.

One example? New computer processors now offer built-in AI performance to increase responsiveness and reduce the need for cloud-based apps.

Smart Home Gadgets and Robotics

Similarly, many of the new smart home products at CES featured localized AI technology to circumvent reliance on subscriptions and cloud storage and allow for seamless connectivity to nearby Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Other smart home trends included advanced smart lock innovations with more entry options and heightened, AI-powered security features.

The smart home category also gave a glimpse into the future, with robots positioned as home helpers and assistants, capable of completing basic household tasks, chores, and more. While humanoid robot products may be years away from mass affordability and demand, CES 2026 clearly emphasized that robotics continue to evolve with a greater focus on making everyday life easier.

Ultra-Thin Displays

Devices continue to slim down while still offering high performance and quality. Examples at CES included:

  • HP OmniBook Ultra 14 — 5 percent thinner than the 2025 Apple MacBook Air 13
  • LG W6 Wallpaper TV — a 9mm thick OLED TV with wireless connectivity
  • Motorola Signature — ultra-slim 6.99mm smart phone with an aluminum frame for extra lightness

Foldable Screens and Expandable Displays

Speaking of phones, slim wasn’t the only trend. While not exactly new, foldable screens and expandable displays are shifting from novelty to need.

More brands have entered the book-style phone market, like Motorola with its CES debut of the Razr Fold. But even the latest bi-fold devices were overshadowed by the attention-grabbing Samsung Galaxy Trifold, a phone that turns into a 10-inch tablet thanks to dual hinges.

Overall, the concept of the second screen showed up in a big way at CES 2026, to include computer and TV displays as well.

Top TV Trends at CES 2026

And finally, let’s talk more about the top TV trends seen on the show floor.

While we already mentioned AI capabilities and slim screens, here are a few other hot TV innovations and features to look out for this year.

  • Mini LEDs — We noted this trend in our 2025 – 2026 consumer electronics review, and, sure enough, this technology continues to expand in the TV category.
  • Dolby Vision 2 — While this Dolby Vision upgrade first released back in September 2025, its capabilities were on full display at CES. Not only does Dolby Vision 2 offer a more consistent HDR experience across various TV brands and models, but it also makes premium picture quality more accessible at entry-level prices.
  • Thinner TV frames — Higher screen-to-frame ratios were prevalent at CES, even in the outdoor TV category, to create a more immersive experience in any room or space.
  • Portable TVs — Cordless, rollable TV tablets are growing in popularity, not only as versatile entertainment devices, but also as family hubs that move with you and provide convenient access to a variety of apps.
