Howard’s Strikes Acquisition Deal with Midway Home Solutions

In a statement published this week, Nationwide Marketing Group Member Howard’s announced that it has acquired the operations and assets of Midway Home Solutions, a leading appliance dealer in Victorville, CA — who also happens to be a Member of the buying group. The deal brings together Southern California’s premier Independent appliance retailer in Howard’s and Midway, which is one of the largest single-store appliance dealers in the country by volume.

Midway was founded in 1961 by Clifford and Don Lager. Today, it operates out of a 45,000-square-foot showroom that also has an attached 50,000-square-foot distribution center. The location is supported by 41 current employees and serves the appliance needs of the greater High Desert region, which includes Apple Valley, Hesperia, Pinon Hills, Phelan, Oak Hills, Barstow, Victorville, Rancho Cucamonga, Adelanto, and Fort Irwin. The Midway team will continue to support the operations of the location while Lager transitions to a role on Howard’s Executive Advisory Board.

“We are thrilled that Howard’s will continue the legacy of what we have built here in Victorville,” Don Lager, Founder & CEO of Midway Home Solutions, said in the statement. “Howard’s commitment to the customer experience and product support mirrors our own. We look forward to seeing what new and exciting opportunities Howard’s will bring to the area’s 400,000 residents.”

Howard’s will officially take ownership on June 15. The Midway retail location and distribution center will be rebranded under the Howard’s name, making it the 13th Howard’s location and first in that region.

“The acquisition of Midway’s business holdings and store location solidifies Howard’s position as the largest independent retailer of major appliances on the West Coast,” John Riddle, President & CEO of Howard’s, said in the statement. “We look forward to introducing shoppers at this location to products from a wide range of brands. We will also bring the same types of hands-on displays and room packages to the store that have become so popular at our other showrooms.”

This Midway acquisition represents one part of a major expansion effort by Howard’s. The retailer is on track to open a new experience center in West Hollywood this Fall. They’re also planning to remodel two additional locations this calendar year.
