What motivates you to get up and go to work for the Independent retailer every day?
A passion to support the backbone of our country. Having grown up in a family business and working in it from the age of 6 years old on it is in my DNA.
Tell us about your role at NMG.
I do all I can to help my members thrive. This includes helping them buy right, sell more and manage expenses. I can do this with the hundreds of programs offered by Nationwide.
Why did you want to come work at NMG?
To support small locally owned businesses with programs that help them to be all they wish to be, thereby helping their families achieve the lifestyles they aspire to.
Why do you think NMG is the best buying group for Independent retailers in today’s climate?
We have the right mix of size to have leverage, while treating each of our owners in a personal way that recognizes they have immense value to their communities.
What is the most important project you are working on right now, and why?
Helping my members to maximize their digital efforts. This is the platform where the customer now interacts with retailers to make purchases, and we need to ensure that our Members are meeting their customers online and offering them the best possible experience.
What is your favorite memory from your time at NMG?
Having members express their appreciation for what Nationwide does for them, particularly when we’re together in person at PrimeTime.
What do you like most about your job?
The personal relationships that I have with my members.
What else do you want people to know about you and NMG?
My wife Jan and I have 4 children and one precious grandchild (hopefully more to come.) I enjoy sports, particularly baseball and football, with the Brewers and Packers. I enjoy reading, and in particular historical books, novels and biographies. I am an ardent student of history with a keen interest in the Civil War period. Travel is something that my wife and I love to do.
