HTSN Summit: Share, Learn and Give Back

Written by Hank Alexander

February 3, 2020

In June 2019, HTSN (Home Technology Specialists Nationwide) held the 2nd Annual HTSN Dealer Summit and Workshop in Phoenix, Arizona. The event, which has quickly become a mainstay in our continued push into the custom integration (CI) channel, brought together approximately 20 dealers and 10 vendors who participated in Member- and vendor-lead learning academy-style presentations.

The Summit is a great opportunity for integration dealers to work on their business, not just in it. Over the course of the two-and-a-half-day event, attendees received important messages around how to create customers for life, improving the showroom experience, staff training, and how to share the story of their business.

The 2020 HTSN Dealer Summit — which will be held May 11-13 in Dallas, Texas — will build on those important messages, while innovating the format to allow for more dealer roundtable topics and one-on- one meetings for Members and vendors. Key topics that will be covered include the art of “show me, don’t tell me,” the importance of hiring the right people, knowing your customers better than they know themselves, and more. And, of course, HTSN will host a give-back event in Dallas.

For 2020, we’ll also have Maverick Technical Institute on site training on the importance of consistently building the best equipment racks, terminating fiber, and other classes for CI Members. Additionally, we’ll have an evening co-hosted by Samsung at their new Dallas Experience Center, located in the Dallas Design Center.

In the two years of the HTSN Summit, we’ve had roughly 60 dealers attend with 15-20 vendors, and one of the biggest wins has been seeing the sharing that occurs between Members. At one of the conferences, one of our larger CI Members was having networking issues around some specific products and across multiple projects.

During one of the dealer roundtables, the issue was brought up, and a smaller, two-man CI integrator chimed in with, “Yeah, I had the same issue and we found the solution with turning off some obscure feature found in the TV’s settings.” By the end of the two days, the report came back that the issue had been fixed with the solution from day one. That kind of sharing only occurs when you get dealers from across the country together in one room, sharing issues, ideas, thoughts and successes.

We would love to have you join us in Dallas for HTSN’s 3rd Annual Dealer Summit and Workshop. Registration for the event is open now! For more information or to register, contact Hank Alexander at hank.alexander@nationwidegroup.org or your regional MSM.
